Bugging Me...

ok, so this has been bugging me for years... the statement...

"The Lesser of the Two Evils"

Who even came up with this saying anyway??? Guess I could google it, perhaps it's noted in some history book.
Let's look at it this way...

You have to choose if your son will smoke marijuana, or take heroin? Do you then choose the lesser of the two evils for your child?

You have to choose if your daughter will make prostitution her career choice or welfare her form of support with her five children from five different men who weren't her husband? Which would your lesser of the two evils be?

You choose to teach your child God created the world in 6 days & rested on the 7th. Then, you have to choose to either support his bad grades in science class for not agreeing with the teachers "Big Bang Theory", or discipline him for not just doing what the teacher said to get the good grade for his college future. Teaching him instead that sometimes a person just has to choose the lesser of the two evils.

You vote for the next US president even though his or her moral standards are not your own, but you vote instead for "the party" and hope for the best. It's the lesser of the two evils you say...your God given right to vote. Would it not be better stated as your Man given right to vote?

Maybe you get my point by now...maybe not. Why do so many people feel like they HAVE to choose the lesser of any two evils? What ever happened to the saying "Just Say NO!"? Guess that went out of style. The world will not always give an option for right or wrong, most often the option will be for one wrong or another wrong. End of discussion, no other choice. We do not have to agree to that. There is always a choice for the right, even if it goes against the masses.

Look at it even simpler. Today you die. During your life time on earth, you made the choice to follow Jesus, accepting Him as the Son of God, saving you from your sins & Hell, making Him Lord of your life. As you bow before His throne what will you say if He asks you why you chose the lesser of two evils? Your response? Perhaps "They were my only choices, others would have made fun of me, ridiculed me, not been my friend or called me names". Sadly Jesus could say "I was there, I gave my life for you, I would have taken your shame every time you stood for righteousness & were persecuted because of it. My Father would be able to say of you "Well done good and faithful servant." and the angels would rejoice.

What will you choose? What will I choose? We always have a choice to make & it is NEVER just between two evils.

I completely agree with you and this is something I have been struggling with for the past year concerning the upcoming presidential election. A year ago when it looked like McCain & Clinton were going to be the presidential candidates is when it began to surface. I have since made the decision that I would not vote at the next election if those two, or another who I did not believe was fit for office, were our candidates, because I wasn't voting for a lesser of two evils. I am no longer buying the lie that that is how we sometimes have to vote because it's not. In this struggle, I decided that I could not have peace knowing I voted for someone who opposes the things of God to keep another who opposes God out of office. It just doesn't sit well with me. God gives a nation what it asks for and deserves when they turn away from Him and they will pay the consequences for their ways. I believe that's where we're at in America today. I've been told that, as an American, it's my right, it's my obligation and as a Christian I should vote, but I don't agree that I should be forced to vote for someone I oppose. I interject that I also have as much right to reject all nominations as much as I have to endorse them. Sure I could write another name on the ballot come election day, but it would be irrelivant - just a formality to say I voted - because the way our political system is established here your only viable options is determined by a political party. I could go on, but I will stop here. For now....
