According to our moving preparation schedule, today is "organize & clean the garage day". I checked the weather this morning and the high is 1°C, meaning the garage will be extremely freezing. At breakfast, Gerhard made the suggestion to switch next Saturday's "attic & basement day" with today's plan. The ever hopeful Gerhard is sure that next weekend will be warmer. I reminded him we live in Germany and next weekend could have snow. Anyway, we decided to hope for warmer weather next weekend & postponed the garage till then.
First, Gerhard has a telephone appointment at 9am with a client who is out of town on the week days. From time to time he does have to have Saturday appointments. There are so many businesses that send their workers out of town or even out of the country every week. That would not be the job for me. A recent addition to Gerhard's business is a computer program that allows him to have telephone appointments and through the Internet beam his desktop to the clients computer. Naturally the program only allows the clients to see what Gerhard wishes. This saves on driving time and works really well with clients that live quite some distance away. Through his website counter, we know that people from all over Germany and even from around the world click on his site. This program could mean that if a person in Berlin wants to sign up on something with a trustworthy insurance broker, they could do so without even leaving their home. Sure, there are other ways to sign up over the internet, but very difficult to find just the right fit for each situation that way, so many loose money and have the wrong coverage.
He should only be gone a couple of hours this morning. He'll need to pick up some more packing boxes on the way home and then we can get started. The attic will be the most difficult sense there are a few very heavy boxes up there that I can not help him with. It makes the most sence to just repack those boxes while in the attic anyway, so they will be lighter for the move.
I organized the basement last Spring, so it wont need much work.
Thursday I started with my plan of packing at least three boxes per day. We have lots of books in our bedroom, so between Thursday and Friday, they were all packed up. The first six boxes down....a jillion more to go...hee hee. Well, don't think it will be that much, but you know how things can collect. I've spent the last year however sorting through things we don't need, but for two people, we still sure do have a lot of "stuff". My project room is quite organized, but it will for sure be the room needing the most boxes. Turns out, my most favorite hobby is collecting hobby supplies. I am very thankful that I'll also have my own Project Room in the new place. It is several square meters smaller, but I can use the space wisely & the extra freezer and kitchen supplies will go in a different room there. I've still not chosen a paint color for the project room. I'm not so fond of pastels, but since the room is small, I figured I shouldn't go too dark. It for sure wont remain all white!
Guess I'll go take care of some ironing till Gerhard gets home. Meanwhile I'll play some New Life 91.9 on the computer. It's fun listening to radio stations broadcasted out of Charlotte, NC! It's like being back home...kind of.
Have a fun weekend...go do some cleaning!
