After studying the calendar, we've come to the conclusion that Moving Day needs to be on March 8th. We'd have rather moved later in the month in order to complete the painting projects (every room has to be painted). Since Easter comes early this year, the school holidays begin on March 14th and last through the rest of the month. That would reduce the possible amount of helpers for the move with several going out of town. Also, the last Saturday in March ends Winter time here in Germany, so that weekend would certainly be a tough time to move. People are tired enough from loosing an hour.
So, the 8th it is. I've designated half the rooms that need to be painted before we move in and then the rest can be painted over the following weeks. Everything has to be spread out over weeks since I can't over do it every day in a rush. We have the whole month of March to get out of our current place, so we are not worried if everything doesn't get moved on moving day. At least all the larger items that don't fit in our cars needs to be moved on the 8th in the big truck we'll rent. My favorite part will be grilling out for lunch! I'm so looking forward to grilling regularly at the new place and eating outside when it's warm enough.
Since we have a balcony in our bedroom, maybe Gerhard will even make me breakfast to enjoy out on the balcony...hint...hint... Fortunately for him, we have a Senseo machine and a bakery down the road. Breakfast doesn't get much easier than that and yet very yummy!
