Fun Weekend

We had a busy, but fun weekend.
On Saturday, I went to an all day papercrafts event at our church sponsored by Scrapbookshop.de, owned by a friend, Amy Dobler. We had a blast and were able to complete several projects. Ramona taught the classes and Claire organized yummy snacks & drinks as well as had Pizza Hut brought in for lunch (many thanks to her husband & son!). Amy set up a little shopping area for us, so naturally, I didn't go home empty handed. Going home empty handed wouldn't have happened anyway since Amy gave us wonderful prizes and a goodie bag. Here next event will be the weekend we move, so I wont be able to attend, but I'm sure I'll make it to another. They are so much fun and all the products are from the US, so it's like being back in the States for a day. The Reese cups and the Cheese Nips were for me an extra hit...yummy!! Thanks Claire!

Here's a group photo. Amy is holding the 2008 Star Book we made, Ramona is sitting next to Amy and Claire is standing behind Ramona (just to put faces with the names mentioned above). You'll have no trouble finding me in the photo I'm sure!!

Want to know how Gerhard kept himself busy while I was away all day??? He invited a friend over for hours of Wii playing. They did drive over to the new house and also managed to squeeze in dinner at the new McDonald's. They were still playing when I got home around 6pm. Just watching them play bowling, tennis and a few other games drained what little energy I had left. They had a blast, so that is what counts! Gerhard deserves to have fun too, at least from time to time! hee hee.

Sunday, we actually made it to first service at church though I was tired. After church Tyler was able to crawl around in the Touran. He wanted to drive, but it was just as fun making the CD come out though the car was turned off. He did try to get the car out of gear, but didn't manage it. Yes, I explained that was not something he shouldn't do & it could be dangerous, so he stopped. Then, we went to Sunday School. Our class is growing quite large, but it is so fun. Well, by large, I mean 25-30 people each Sunday. Coming from a church (HGBC) where classes can be really large, 50-300 people, large is relevant. Our class also has very yummy snacks most weeks. Sure there have been times when someone forgot and we wound up eating marshmallows & coffee, but mostly, it's a delicious spread. Class gets over at 1:00pm, so the snacks give us energy to keep the discussion powered. We are working through 1st Corinthians at the moment and it is interesting, sometimes even intense though always fun. We are glad to be a part of this group.
Around 1:45pm, after much after class chatting, we finally made our way to the car & headed out for lunch with Julia and Daniel. We went to a restaurant that actually keeps the kitchen open till 2:30pm (most close at 2pm), that Zoltan & Esther introduced us to last year. At the moment, I can't remember the name, but it's between Rohr and Vaihingen and has yummy food in good portions for a decent price.
After lunch, we headed back to the church to get a little rest on the couches in the youth room till the special opening service in IBC's German speaking daughter church, Friedenskirche in Lauchau. The service was very well organized and had a nice turn out. It is amazing to see how this church has grown out of mission work that started four years ago through IBC.
Around 7ish, we were finally on our way back home for a couple of hours of resting before calling it night.
When the baby's here, it will be a little while before we can enjoy such a schedule. It will just be a different kind of fun in a different chapter of life which we are still looking very much forward to.
