Completed Kitchen!!

Yesterday the kitchen was completed. Well, there are a few things that didn't make it from the manufacturer on time, so they will be brought next week. Six of the handles are on delay.
The sink and faucet are the display unit from the showroom. The faucet we ordered is much better than this one. The sink comes with a cutting board that fits over the right side of the sink and some other extras.
The stove top is induction. It came with a seven piece pot set, which is good since most of our pots and pans don't work with induction technology.

Here is the view coming into the kitchen. Disregard that blue lamp hanging from the ceiling. It will be history soon as we find a light fixture that matches well.

The walls are a textured stucco. We chose to use a red latex paint using a marbling technique on two walls.

The floor is laminate with a staggered tile design. We laid it ourselves! It was a nerve wracking job, wanting to make sure every measurement and cut was accurate. We had to purchase a jigsaw for the cutting. In the end, we didn't make but a couple of mistakes. Fortunately too, we even have one box of planks extra that can return to the hardware store. We still have to install the baseboards and the moulding between the three doors to make a smooth finish. We are very pleased with how everything turned out and with our color choices. I was a bit nervous about going with such bold colors. Gerhard got tired of waiting for me to actually confirm the colors he knew I wanted, so he "put his foot down" (as he says) & said to go with it. So, if you don't like it, he gets the credit, but if you do, we get the credit together. hee hee....

Here's a shot from the dinning table into the kitchen.

Where the Senseo coffee machine is sitting is enough counter space for food & baking preparation. The three big drawers underneath are full of my baking supplies. Can't wait to bake my first cakes & pies.

The oven and refrigerator are in that wall unit.

It is so nice not to have the oven under the stove. All the things needed for cooking on the stove are stored in the drawers under the stove. All the things need for cooking in the oven are stored in the cabinet under the oven.

Now all the kitchen supplies are in the real kitchen. The upstairs mini kitchen will turn into a type of changing/dressing room. That will free up more space in the baby's room as well as in the upstairs bathroom.

We'll get started soon painting the baby's room. Maybe we'll be putting mom to work next week!
