On Thursday, Sept. 4th, Teodor went on his first road trip. We had an appointment at the US Embassy in Frankfurt at 10am, so we had to leave the house at 7am. The drive is two hours one way, but with needing to stop for gas as well as some coffee & egg McMuffins and allow time for the possible poopy diaper stop & traffic, we added an hour. Teo was a bit confused as to why he was being drug out of the house on a chilly, foggy, rainy morning, but he didn't fuss. He drank his bottle empty and was then bundled up in the car. The new gas station & McDonald's are beside each other at our autobahn exit, so that's convenient. To make it even better, Teo took care of his morning business just as we made it to the gas station, so I changed him in the back seat & left his "deposit" at the gas station. Once we picked up breakfast, we were on our way. It didn't take long for the hum & vibration of the car to put Teo to sleep...I followed shortly after. He slept almost till we arrived at the Embassy and was in a good mood when he woke up. We arrived in perfect time. All the guards and workers enjoyed talking with Teo since he was so talkative & smiling. Everything went smooth in the Embassy thanks to their new appointment system & that we had all of our paper work in order. We were finished in a hour. Teo's birth certificate and passport should arrive in three to five weeks & his SS card a few weeks after that. So, we'll be booking our flight to Charlotte soon!!! Yippee!!! These three photos are of Teo getting back into the car leaving the Embassy. We found an "American style" restaurant Chicago Meatpackers, where we enjoyed a very yummy lunch. Sadly though, they were out of the onion loaf (their version of the blooming onion). Guess I'll have to wait till we are in the US...or break down and make my own.

"Yep, I'm a good ol' American boy!"

"OK people...let's get this vehicle on the road...load em up and move em out!"
