Are You Addicted?

So, what part does the Internet play in your life? Most everyone needs the Internet to some extent. The list is endless...
Without the Internet, it would be much more difficult to keep up with friends and family around the world.
Without the Internet, I'd have a harder time shopping for my scrapbooking & quilting supplies. Without the Internet, we'd only be able to shop in the US when we visited.
Without the Internet, I'd buy even more books and magazines.
Without the Internet, I'd not be able to watch TV clips in English.
Without the Internet, I'd not be able to learn more about my favorite hobbies or topics.
Without the Internet, there would be no BLOGS...no Forums (which might not be too bad of a thing since reading the journals & opinions of complete strangers, adding very little quality to life, is very addicting and takes precious time away from living in reality).

Sure, it is fun to join forums (my favorite being scrapbooking) as long as there are set boundaries & perhaps someone holding those accountable. Otherwise, everyday life can fly right on by, eventually causing the inevitable guilt trip for the things missed or not accomplished. When I noticed I was spending too much time on the Internet, I put myself on restriction to break myself of the habit. An easy way is by assigning a certain daily time limit, setting a timer and when that timer runs out, shut down the PC. Same procedure can work with anything really. Behind on ironing, set a timer for 15 or 30min, iron during that time & stop. Continue again the next day. Need to clean the house, but feels too overwhelming? Pull out the timer, set a time for each room, clean till it goes off & move on to the next room. Same procedure as well if you have a hobby you never seem to have time for. Now, you mom's out there may be saying "Yeah sure, works for her, she doesn't have kids.". Well, this tip was actually passed on to me by mom's that got there home in order using this method. My timer is from Pampered Chef, their clip-on timer works great since it clips right onto clothes & goes with you.

Well back to the topic of being addicted to the Internet. Here's a little quiz you can take to find out what level you are. Internet Addiction. I got 31 points!

Have a GREAT weekend...thanks for taking time to read our blog...now, go out and play, but come back again real soon now YA Hear? Gotta add the Southern Twang to that!

I scored 41!, but I included PC usage, not just Internet. I use the PC for my photography and digital scrapbooking too - not to mention the other normal stuff you do on a PC like e-mail, financial stuff, writing documents, etc.
