"Kyrill" Heading This Way!

This is the satellite photo taken Wednesday.
The storm, "Kyrill", is bringing hurricane winds up to 150 - 200km (93-124mph). It is to hit our area Thursday evening & the weather warning is on high telling people to stay home after 4pm in our county. The winds in the Black Forrest are already measuring 122km (75mph). Last night the winds kept waking us up as it howled between the houses. Right now, it is very cloudy with light rain & strong winds.
Storms are exciting. Our apartment is set on the 2nd & 3rd floors & we have huge windows in the front & back to watch the activity outside. Unfortunately, with storms, most often come damage & people getting hurt. The storm is already causing damage in the Northern parts of Germany. The forecast is that the weather will not be calm again until Monday. Though we have had some days with freezing temps, we've had no snow in this area and mostly the temps have been in the mid 30's - upper 50's F. Very strange for this time of year. Feels more like Spring is on the way rather than being in mid Winter. Last year, however, it was still snowing in May. I prefer the warmer weather over the bone chilling Winters Germany is more known for.

Maybe there are storms in your area as well, so I say.... shut the house up tight, make a yummy treat, light a fire if you've got a fire place, get a good book or turn on a favorite DVD (hope the power doesn't go out) and settle in for a stormy Winter's night! Sounds like a song....been done already ...in reference to SNOW! Now, how long will you have that tune stuck in your head??? Just when you thought it was safe till next Christmas to not have a carol repeating over and over and over.........
