We are now half way through week nine in the pregnancy. Since everything seems to be going well, we didn't have to go to yesterday's check-up. It was just on the schedule for in case of an emergency. The other pregnancies started showing signs of miscarriage by week 9. The next check-up will be on Nov. 6th (week 11). We'll be able to see a much better picture of the baby then.
I'm still very groggy and tired. Waves of nauseousness strike at odd times during the day, but I've been able to control it... well, at least until this morning...yuck! On the positive side, the stronger the side-effects, the more proof we have the pregnancy is also strong. I'm getting lots of rest and avoiding stress. I'm not too comfortable driving, so I've had to clear my calendar of the things Gerhard's not driving to. I don't want the stress or fear I'll doze off while driving or not be fast enough to respond in a traffic situation. I did have a emotional break down this week for not having the energy to drive to the grocery store. Well, it's not just one store for all our groceries. There are the local farms, the organic store, the store with all the toiletries and then the big store with everything else. Gerhard for sure gladly does the shopping for me, but I like to do it & pick the best veggies and sale items. Eventually I managed to make a list of the main things we needed as well as making it as detailed as possible from the front door to the check-out for Gerhard to go after work. He did a very fine job & got everything on the list, with only a couple of calls from the cell phone!!
This past weekend he drove me down to Freudenstadt for Amy's Scrapbookshop.de paper crafts weekend. Freudenstadt is only an hour from here deeper into the Black Forest. We had several projects to work on, though with my grogginess, I didn't finish any of them. Mostly just the detail work though, so I can finish them here at home. I'll post the photos eventually, but Ramona already has the samples posted on the shops blog: The Scrappy Farm., if you want to have a look (it's in German) It was a fun weekend & I'm glad I was able to go. When Gerhard picked me up, we drove over to Amy & Tobi's to check out their new home and the Scrapbookshop in their basement. The shop is three big rooms loaded with wonderful scrapbook and paper craft supplies. Everything is set up nice and organized very well. With it being an older home with wood floors & details, it seemed like a cozy, country store - like those in the mountains of NC.
On the drive home, we stopped at a restaurant owned by parents of an old friend of Gerhard's. Of course, we ordered what he always ate there: deep fried chicken halves and fries! It was quite yummy.
Oh, and on Sunday morning, it snowed!!! It was very pretty falling, though it didn't stick. Some other areas have already gotten 20cm!
well, I've got to get to the kitchen, it's heading on noon time here.
