I, Cynthia, managed to catch a cold which turned into bronchitis. We've been trying to protect Teo from catching it, but it's been difficult. At his first Well-Baby check-up last week, he was in perfect health (blog with photos to come soon). Yesterday however, his nose was stuffy, so Gerhard took him to the doctor. She didn't hear any congestion in his lungs, so that was good. She prescribed him some saline drops for his nose. Unfortunately he got worse last night. Poor little Teo started coughing and sneezing trying to clear his nose and lungs. It's such a pitiful sound. After a fit of coughing or sneezing, he makes a little sigh/whimper to say how worn out he is. The past nights, Gerhard has been feeding him while I either assisted or slept. Last night he was worn out and my coughing less, so by 1am, I made at Gerhard to go on to sleep in the guest room. Teo then came to sleep in the waterbed with me. He slept better knowing he was so close to me like he did in the hospital. I'm learning to sleep with one eye open to make sure he is safe.
Gerhard took him back to the doctors this morning. They will be home soon, he just called with the update. Teo now has some noise in his bronchi, so they did an inhaling treatment on him. She prescribed an inhaling machine and some natural drops that Gerhard is now picking up from the pharmacy. He said Teo seemed to enjoy the inhaling treatment, so that is good. I'll take him for a short walk later too so he can get some fresh air.
Poor little guy. Only five weeks old and already having his first cold experience. This crazy Summer/Spring/Fall type weather changes over here do nothing to help either. You all can keep us in your prayers that he gets better real quick.
