Needless to say, it's been an exciting time for us. There is so much to learn and get used to. Gerhard and I are working well together taking good care of Teo and each other. It is great that Gerhard's office is in the house. It allows him to be so much more flexible. I'm able to take naps during the day when I need them, mostly when Teo is sleeping. Gerhard takes the baby phone with him to the office in the basement to keep an ear out for Teo.
As you know, Grandma was here for Teo's first week, so that was his first highlight (well, after meeting his parents). He has had a few other visitors as well. David Whitley came by the house with beautiful flowers and a plant from his mother. Alan, Clare and Nathan Wright brought a couple of yummy meals over on Sunday with some groceries from base. Amy, Anna and Natalie Dobler visited on Tuesday, also with a yummy meal as well as a sweet papercraft word project that spells BABY. The neighbors across the street actually met Teo through the open living room window while Gerhard took a break mowing the lawn. We'll be going to church this Sunday to introduce him to our friends there, though probably just for Sunday School so as not to wear us out. Since he is so young, mom and Gerhard found some mittens for him to wear to church. He's so cute that everyone will want to touch his hands...a natural reaction, but too easy to spread germs straight to his mouth. We'll see if he keeps them on.

We also had our first outing since coming home from the hospital.

We picked up Tyler and drove to the ice-cream shop and then went to DM (a drug store type store though without a pharmacy). Tyler really likes it there since they give free candy at the check-out. Poor Teo didn't get any ice-cream. When our midwife met Tyler on the weekend, she though he was five since he's as tall as her youngest son who is five. He just keeps getting taller and taller. Teo looks so tiny next to him. Hard to believe that three years ago, Tyler was also a newborn.
As you see from the photos below, Teo had his first bath at home today. The midwife gave it to him. It's part of the program & Teo thoroughly enjoyed it. He was so relaxed the whole time. Afterwards, we bundled him up in warm clothes and a hat & he drifted off to sleep for a bit till he realized he was hungry. After his bottle, he fell right back to sleep till the next feeding time. I squeezed in a nap too.
Tonight he watched part of the Germany soccer game during his supper time, but they lost, so nothing to write about there. Hopefully they'll win their next game against Austria so they can move up to the next level. If not, they are out of the championships.
It's late, so we're heading to bed...till the next feeding anyway...
